Exchange experience in Saint Petersburg, Russia
Being an exchange student at RANEPA, Saint Petersburg, was a truly unforgettable and life-changing experience. Coming from Walailak University International College, I was eager to step out of my comfort zone and embrace a new culture, climate, and way of life. Little did I know, this journey would shape me in ways I never imagined.
The cold weather was one of the first challenges I faced. Coming from a warm climate, experiencing Saint Petersburg’s winter was both thrilling and daunting. The sight of snow-covered streets, frozen rivers, and historic buildings created a magical atmosphere, making the adjustment all the more worthwhile. Despite the initial struggle, I gradually adapted, learning to appreciate the charm of winter and the cozy warmth of Russian hospitality.
One of the most exciting aspects of my exchange was learning Russian. At first, the language seemed incredibly difficult, but I was pleasantly surprised to find some similarities with English. With time, patience, and practice, I managed to grasp the basics enough to hold simple conversations and navigate daily life. This small achievement made me feel more connected to the people and culture around me.

One of the highlights of my exchange was venturing into the countryside of Saint Petersburg. I had always been curious about life beyond the bustling city, and this trip gave me a deeper appreciation for Russia’s natural beauty and traditions. Exploring majestic mountains, stunning waterfalls, and serene landscapes allowed me to see a different side of the country, one that was peaceful, breathtaking, and deeply connected to nature.
This exchange program broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for cultural diversity. The friendships I formed, the lessons I learned, and the memories I created will stay with me forever. Looking back, I realize that stepping out of my comfort zone was one of the best decisions I ever made. Saint Petersburg, with its history, beauty, and warmth, will always hold a special place in my heart.
