As a student at Walailak University in Thailand, I was thrilled when the opportunity arose to spend a semester in Russia. Eager to see the world beyond my familiar surroundings, I embraced this chance to immerse myself in a land renowned for its rich history, artistic heritage, and breathtaking landscapes.
We exchanged in Saint Petersburg, the city itself felt like an open-air museum, where history and art converged at every corner. And I visited the Winter Palace and the Summer Palace, also seen at the Mariinsky Theatre. The ballet “Sleeping Beauty” is a feast for the eyes and ears to enjoy and immerse yourself in.
Our exchange program was not confined to classroom walls; it extended into every facet of Russian life. Our professors organized guided museum tours that illuminated the artistic legacy of the nation, offering insights into Russia’s storied past and the creative spirit that continues to thrive. One particularly memorable excursion was during our winter school session when we journeyed to the Gulf of Finland. The crisp winter air, combined with the awe-inspiring landscapes, created a magical atmosphere that left a deep impression in my heart .
During my exchange , I traveled to Moscow—a city where art and innovation pulse through the streets. In Moscow, I was captivated by an artistic vibe that seemed to infuse every moment of the day. The city’s blend of modern creativity with deep-rooted historical significance was palpable in its galleries, theaters, and public spaces. Strolling through its vibrant neighborhoods, I found myself continually inspired by the harmonious interplay of tradition and modernity.
I also journeyed to Sochi, where the vibrant coastal life and sunny vistas offered a refreshing contrast to the historical depths of the north. In Murmansk, I found myself spellbound by the Northern Lights. Along the way, I also experienced chasing whales in the Arctic Ocean, it filled me with exhilaration and a deep sense of wonder. I also tried floating ice and enjoyed a joyful ride on a sled, a true taste of the winter wonderland that Russia offers
