Exchange Program in Taipei
My exchange program in Taipei has been one of the most enriching experiences of my life. Since arriving on September 4th, I have had the opportunity to explore not only a new country but also new perspectives, cultures, and ways of life. Shih Chien University welcomed us with open hands. This journey has pushed me beyond my comfort zone, helping me grow in ways I never
One of the most rewarding aspects has been meeting people from different backgrounds. I’ve made amazing friends, each with their own unique stories, and these connections have taught me so much about communication, understanding, and embracing diversity. Whether it was through late-night conversations, exploring the city together, or simply sharing meals, these friendships have made my experience truly special.
Taipei itself is a city that never ceases to amaze me. From the towering Taipei 101 to the peaceful temples hidden within busy streets, the blend of modernity and tradition is something I’ve come to admire deeply. Every weekend feels like an opportunity for a new adventure hiking up mountain for breathtaking views, visiting Jiufen’s charming old streets, or taking a day trip to the hot springs in Beitou. The ease of transportation has made exploring even more enjoyable, with the MRT being one of the most efficient systems I’ve ever used.
Speaking of meals, one of my favorite parts of being in Taipei has been trying the incredible variety of food. From night markets to local restaurants, every meal has been an adventure. I’ve enjoyed everything from xiao long bao to bubble tea, and each dish has given me a deeper appreciation for Taiwan’s rich culinary culture. Shilin, Raohe, and Ningxia Night Markets have become some of my favorite places to visit, not just for the food but for the lively atmosphere that makes every visit exciting.
Beyond the famous dishes, I’ve also had the chance to try more local and traditional foods that I never imagined enjoying stinky tofu, braised pork rice, and oyster omelets. The way food plays such an integral role in Taiwanese culture has been fascinating to witness, whether it’s family gatherings over hot pot or small breakfast shops serving warm soymilk and you tiao.
Overall, my time in Taipei has been nothing short of amazing. The experiences, friendships, and personal growth I’ve gained from this journey have made it truly unforgettable. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity, and I know that this exchange has left a lasting impact on me, both personally and professionally.
This experience has reinforced my passion for exploring new cultures, learning from diverse perspectives, and embracing change. It has inspired me to continue seeking international opportunities in the future, whether through further studies, work, or travel. More than just a temporary adventure, my time in Taipei has been a transformative chapter in my life, one that I will cherish forever.
