WUIC Is Co-host of Kathina Ceremony 2022 in Thon Hong, Nakhon Si Thammarat

Dr Wasin Praditsilp, on 16 October 2022, was a WUIC staff and student representative to be a co-host of Kathina (the annual Buddhist ceremony after Vassa, giving new robes to monks to express gratitude) at Buddhacharik Monastery in Thon Hong, Phrom Khiri, Nakhon Si Thammarat. Thai and foreign Buddhists, particularly Malaysians, joined the ceremony to practice meditation, offer food to the monks, prayed for Kathina robes, and had lunch together. The ceremony at Buddhacharik was special, featuring the Kathina parade led by an elephant “Mee Boon” and the abbot (Rev. Charuk Chariko).

Dr Wasin is a media strategist for Walailak University’s academic service project: King Taksin's First Royal Footstep to Nakhon Si Thammarat – the collaborative project between Walailak University, Kongka Leap Buddhist temple in Tha Sak, and people in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The project aims to establish King Taksin the Great Monument at Kongka Leap temple, where King Taksin first disembarked at Nakhon Si Thammarat when he was the king of Thonburi Kingdom. All stakeholders of this project were co-hosts of Kathina ceremony at Buddhacharik Monastery this year.
